'Toe-dipping' Into Sushi

Our kids aren't the most adventurous eaters.....you could say Max is a 'White Bread' kid. (Those that have seen him in action know what I'm talking about)
For family night out, Mark and I decided it might be a good idea to do some 'toe-dipping' into Japanese cuisine.
We had to keep it a surprise, so Max wouldn't start to panic in the car........"Do they have a kids menu? Do they have Macaroni & Cheese? What can I eat?..tears...lip quiver...tears....
They actually surprised us though....the idea of chopsticks won them over (I think Kung Fu Panda might have had something to do with it). They were up for the challenge.

A worried look crossed Max's face as he perused the menu.....he didn't recognize anything........couldn't find any white fish or chicken.....definitely no Mac & Cheese.

And when the Sushi sampler arrived the look of panic set in....."Are you going to make me eat this?"
They were happy to realize that 'Noodles' are about the same as 'Pasta' and veggies are the same everywhere.
Lillian rocked the chopsticks! She's awesome and so easy to take out.....

Max did find something he loved.....

White Rice!

That's so funny! I can totally see that happening with kids. I remember I hated stuff like that, but I now love it. Good luck!

I hear ya Kate! When we go to any kind of asian restraunt Braedon will only eat the white rice, and a TON of it....so much in fact that I'm afraid he's going to get a tummy ache....with the expansion and all. He'll try some of almost anything but then it's the white rice all the way.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one with a picky eater. Eli won't even eat RICE or Mac and Cheese! He has never liked rice or noodles, even in the baby food. I hope he grows out of it soon. I'm sick of jelly sandwiches, fries and chicken nuggets!

I love Max! He cracks me up, and you can tell him that he is not alone in the sushi department. It makes me gag EVERY TIME!

I love the facial expressions! I'm a pretty adventurous eater, but I have side with Max on the sushi!
