Hooray! We've Made It!

Yessssss! We've finally made it to Japan! After a groddy stopover hotel, five hours of hanging out in the Seatac airport (at 1:00am till 5:00am, wonderfully pleasant hours with small children), a 10 hour flight, a two hour bus ride and a very testy, tired and miserable baby............We're here! All in one piece and so happy to have the worst of it over!
We haven't seen to much up close (just cruising in the bus half delirious with exhaustion).....but the base is nice. Super neat and tidy. It's like 'tropical industrial' style. All the buildings look like heavy duty cement bunkers from the outside. (Mark says it's for good reason, we're right on the water and typhoon season is about to start, so we'll see why.)
The Fry family is picking us up for dinner tonight and I'm looking forward to seeing more of the local city..............check back soon for updates!

I am so glad to hear that you guys arrived safely! I am sad that Tobias was tortured by it all but I am glad it is over now. We miss you already and can't wait to see all your fabulous adventures in Japan. Selfishly I wish your Silverdale adventures weren't over with yet!!!

I am so glad you made it. I can't believe we missed each other by just a couple days!
Industrial is definitely the word for base, although there are a lot of beautiful areas you will soon find.
Congrats on accomplishing the trip of dread! Its over! Now, hopefully you can all adjust to the time difference. I think it's easier to adjust going there than coming back.
You may be at church right now. I am sure you will make lots of friends. The girls are great there. I think you will love Dayna Snow, especially. She would have fit into the Silverdale 6th ward perfectly. In fact, if you are looking to live off base, she does and could possibly help you find a place near her.
Enjoy Japan and make the most of it! Wish I could have been there to show you my favorite places!
