Max has declared himself a Cubist.......not the country, the style. It's his new favorite style. He was introduced to Picasso this last term and he LOVES IT! Max's previous work could be described as his 'Abstract Period', heavy on self portraits. (I kinda think all works done by six and under could be described that way). Abstract- was a word to give meaning and ummph to whatever he intended (especially when drawing with icing on a toaster struedel).
I was impressed when he gave this to Mark for Christmas........ I also loved his interpretation of 'Starry Night' by Van Gogh.....but I was most impressed when he knew about the rivalry between Picasso and Matisse.....the little guy is paying attention!

KATE! Those are AMAZING for a 6 year old.....or older! I know I could never draw like that! You need to frame those and put them up for the world to see, maybe start his own Flikr site!!!
Autumn loved doing to Picasso style self portrait too. She gave us the calendar for Christmas and we scanned all the pictures and printed out calendars for all of her grandparents at costco. Their teacher is so creative.
That is so good! You have a little artist on your hands!
Wow! You need to frame both of those. Well done, Max!
